Mr. Sam Pitroda is the Chairman of India’s national Knowledge Commission. For the last four decades, he has developed activities in the telecommunications sector in three different continents – US, Europe and India, where, as Advisor to the Prime Minister Rajiv Ghandi, he helped to transform telecommunications and information technology infra-structures.
In Europe, he also collaborated with the International Telecom Union (ITU) in the development of telecom infra-structures in developing countries as means to reduce the global telecom gap. In fact, Mr. Sam Pitroda has been one of the most active defenders of using telecommunications in the promotion of nation building and development.
With over 75 worldwide registered patents, Mr. Sam Pitroda is an inventor as well as an entrepreneur, having owned and run several companies in the US and lectured in the areas of technology, development and telecommunications all over the world.
